Last night was indeed a pleasure to present to the students and faculty at ICO. Many thanks to our COVD Student Liaison, Noha Seif who did a great job of organizing the event!
The turnout was strong with about 100-110 in attendance. Based on an informal count we had about 30 first year, 35 second year, 30 third year and 5-6 4th year students.
Thanks to all who submitted their surveys: Here are some of the comments:
"The videos were very helpful!" I'm glad that you could see what I was trying to demonstrate, especially with the segment showing the "power" of lenses with a child with a vision related reading problem.
"I learned a more appropriate method to perform an NPC."Yes...The Penlight Red/Green NPC was demonstrated and is available as a member benefit for FREE through AOA. Just click here to link to the CI Toolkit.
You can also see another live demo of the PLRG NPC on Sovoto. Just click here.
"This opened my eyes to how prevalent binocular vision problems are and how they go un-diagnosed to adulthood."
Again, it was such a pleasure for me to be with you! Yes, we did cover a lot of the "What" and the "Why" but as always there is always so much to learn about the "How". So as a reminder, here are a couple slides that you can use to remind you about the steps available to acquire the knowledge and the practice delivery systems so that you can, if you choose, add VT to your practice. Download The How
The key to remember is, just like the patient with previously undetected glaucoma...it is no longer acceptable to simply diagnose and "monitor" a patient with Convergence Insufficiency (or other binocular problems). You must treat or refer!
Thanks again!
